Violence Prevention Programs at Dixon Correctional Center
The designers of the Violence Prevention Program believe this program can be just as effective decreasing violence in troubled communities as it is in Dixon Correctional Center. We base this belief on our experiences both outside of prison and inside of prison. Inside of prison, men serving long term sentences are often tasked with helping younger prisoners just entering prison to adjust to their new environment and reality. In many ways it is similar to a home owner who invested into the harmony of their communities by joining a neighborhood association that educates new residents about the values of that neighborhood.
