I began my journey through the Transformational Rhythms program in early 2017. I learned about it from a couple of guys I’ve been tight with while traveling through the Illinois prison system for many years. I started noticing subtle positive changes in their attitudes and the kinda of things they were interested in talking about. They really seemed to have their acts together.
So I asked “whats going on”? “You’ll kinda shining a little bit”! They told me it was because of this class that they had recently enrolled in. They told me it was called Foundation for Life (FFL). They explained that it was taught by a businessman who was going to teach them to start their own businesses. Ok, that got my attention, so I asked how do I sign up.
Fast forward a few weeks, I show up for the first day of class and i’m ready to become an entrepreneur plus I wanted to see if I could get a little bit of that glow those guys had emanating from them. What actually happened was I met this short fired up white guy named Cliff Parrish. He gave me and all the guys who started his class that day a really firm handshake and when we got seated he had us stand up while he opened the class with a prayer. Cliff then told us that we were all God masterpieces.
To say that I was a little bewildered would be an understatement. I was thinking where is the business info, when Cliff explained that everything that is built has a foundation and if you want what you build to last you have to build it on a solid foundation. And that we would be the CEO of any business that we start so we would be the foundation of our businesses. That made sense to me and that realization would be the the first step on my Transformational Rhythms journey. I learned that in order to lead a business or anything else successfully you had to first learn how to manage yourself. That is what FFl is all about. Learning how to lead yourself well and hundred other things. Needless to say I got a little bit of a glow too.
